Conscious Construction Co. is a Geelong-based architectural builder specialising in high-performance homes, renovations and extensions across Greater Geelong, the Surf Coast and Bellarine Peninsula. We work with homeowners and architects to build beautiful, thoughtfully designed homes that are comfortable, healthy, quiet and perform exceptionally well, while using less energy and having a lower impact on the environment.
Our approach is informed by Passive House principles and building science. We focus on the elements that have the greatest impact on how a home performs, including airtightness, insulation, thermal performance, ventilation and moisture management. The result is a home that maintains a stable, comfortable temperature throughout the year, providing clean, fresh air, reduced heating and cooling requirements and a quieter, more peaceful interior. We believe these should be qualities of a well-built home, rather than extras.
Arran brings more than 25 years of hands-on construction and carpentry experience across Scotland, Europe, London and Australia. He is a Registered Master Builder and Certified Passive House Tradesperson, and particularly enjoys the challenging carpentry, joinery and construction details that come with architecturally designed homes. We prefer to be involved early, working alongside the homeowner, architect/designer while the project is still taking shape. This allows us to bring practical construction knowledge, realistic costing and building-performance expertise into the process before major decisions are locked in. We deliberately take on a limited number of projects so we can remain closely involved and give each home the care and attention it deserves.
We don’t see sustainability and beautiful design as competing priorities. We believe the best homes bring these things together: thoughtful architecture, exceptional comfort, long-term performance and a lower impact on the environment.
